New Home, New President, Same Boy

Diego is settling into his new home and is especially excited about the trash/recycle cans that came with the house. He really likes his new room and seems to feel comfortable in almost every area in the house. We're not sure if he misses our old apartment on Capitol Hill, but he does ask about our old neighbors, Dave and Dotty.

Diego continues to be a chatterbox and loves to use his words. Recently he's been trying to count and likes to sing "One, Two, Buckle My Shoe." He is also working hard on learning his shapes. So far he's mastered star, oval, diamond, and parallelogram (not making this up). He seems to want to go for the more obscure shapes before starting in on the run-of-the-mill square, triangle, circle, etc.

Next week, Diego and Mama are off to celebrate his 18th month with a visit to Boulder to see Grandma, Pop, and Co. Pictures to follow!

Get in shape boy!

Diego has been working out and making his 16 month old body look 15 months young again.  His favorite exercise with daddy is push ups.  As you can see in the photos, he's been influenced by his yogi Mima.

Diego recently got a sweet new hairdo thanks to his steady-handed Mama.  Although it looks relatively straight head on, let's just say there's a good side and an almost-got-a-mullet side.  Eh, Diego is confident he can rock whatever style mom can throw at him.

15 mos!

Life with Diego is fun and full of chatter.  The boy likes to talk! He is very focused on learning words and using them over and over and over.   He is especially interested in garbage cans, garbage trucks, and things that are generally yucky or stinky.  I'm sure you can imagine the type of humor that goes on in our house.  Judging from daddy's jokes, this humor is here to stay.

Another pass time of Diego's is creative stacking.  He spends quality time making "statues" (another favorite word) with anything on hand.  He'll often start a stacking and then knock it down if he's dissatisfied with the look of the piece, then start again.  Artist's prerogative!  Here are a few of his masterpieces.

This one is in progress...
Finished with a shoe on top!

Kitty likes to help.
Clock tower.

Diego also likes to conduct Cheerio experiments in his lab.

Up and Running in China

Diego is now 14 months and a world traveler! Currently, he is trying to get back on schedule after a 2.5 week trip to Southern China. Jet lag is kicking butts all around the Giron Ringold household.

While Diego was in the motherland, he worked on his walking, running and haggling of street vendors. He also learned to say "cool" and a few other choice words that arise while traveling and being frustrated in a foreign country. Ahem, we hope those words fade into the background soon. You can follow some of his overseas adventures at http://achineseadventure.blogspot.com. The photos will be up on our Flickr account soon.

For those of you who missed us while we were gone, feel free to drop by. Diego is spending his awake time doing a lot of this:
